Papillon Charitable Foundation of Canada (Papillon) is a registered charity in Canada incorporated with the purpose of relieving poverty in developing nations.

We started the organization because we saw a direct action need to provide the basic necessities for life. Food, clean water, clothing, and shelter are the building blocks that lead to a healthy, productive life to vulnerable children throughout the developing world.

Adding to that, we want to advance education in developing nations by establishing, operating, and maintaining preschools, elementary, and high schools for children. Education can inspire confidence and open doors to well-paying careers for children who otherwise wouldn’t have access to those opportunities.

Also building upon that foundation, we aim to promote health in developing nations by establishing, operating, and maintaining health clinics which provide life-saving outpatient services to the public.

Our first sponsored project is the Makina Community Development Project (Macodep) in Kenya. It checked all the boxes for creating a life well-lived. It also worked. We saw one child, in particular, grow up in the orphanage, attend school, and become a nurse. Now, she saves lives, has a healthy family and actively sits on the board of Macodep, ensuring bright futures for other children.

These are the stories that continue to inspire us to chase our vision. One life transformed is all it takes to make a difference. Hence the name Papillon, after the butterfly. Each caterpillar that emerges from the cocoon becomes a butterfly, spreading its wings and soaring to glorious heights. That’s the butterfly effect and that’s our sincere hope for every life we touch.
